As a way of improving and increasing transportation choices for those working, living and visiting Downtown Cleveland, the City is studying the establishment of a Downtown Bike Station. The station would include bike storage, lockers, changing rooms, showers and bicycle repair facilities — the kind of accommodation that exists in Chicago and other cities. The station is being planned for a vacant 1,500 square foot space in a city-owned parking garage on East 4th Street in the Gateway neighborhood. Preliminary drawings have been produced and the project is in the process of gathering information, cost estimates and potential funding.
