Project: Infrastructure/ Modification of West Shoreway into 35 mph tree-lined boulevard

Location: Lakefront/ West 25th Street to Lake Avenue

Size: 2. 5-mile roadway
Phase I- $40 million/ Includes $3 million to renovate two pedestrian tunnels at West 76th Street/ Phase I also includes multipurpose trails and improved street infrastructure and intersections
Phase II- $20 million/ Includes reduction of speed limits on West Shoreway from 50 mph to 35 mph and replacement of concrete barriers with a tree-lined landscaped median.

Cost: Total Cost- $60 million

Status: Phase I pedestrian pathways under construction.

"It will make Edgewater Park and Lake Erie more accessible from the adjacent West Side neighborhoods now cut off by the Shoreway . The state has pledged federal money totaling almost $50 million for the entire project, which covers the first phase of construction with about $10 million left over for the second phase, which should cost about $20 million."
