BROADWAY HISTORIC DISTRICT – OUR LADY OF LOURDES CONVENT – 3411-5 EAST 53RD STREET  Application for a Certificate of Appropriateness for the demolition of Our Lady of Lourdes Convent.  The building was constructed in 1926 and is a contributing structure within the Broadway National Register and Cleveland Landmark Historic District.  The church would like to demolish the building and use the site for parking.

 

WITNESS

 

DESIGN REVIEW COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATION The Broadway Design Review Committee is scheduled to review the demolition permit on Tuesday – June 8, 2004.

 

TESTIMONY

 

BROOKLYN CENTRE HISTORIC DISTRICT – 3102 – 8 ARCHWOOD AVENUE  Application for a Certificate of Appropriateness for the installation of vinyl replacement windows, in this apartment building constructed in the 1964.

 

WITNESS

 

DESIGN REVIEW COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATION  The Brooklyn Centre Design Review Committee recommended approval of the window replacements, as submitted.

 

LITTLE ITALY HISTORIC DISTRICT – 2809 FAIRVIEW AVENUE  Application for a Certificate of Appropriateness for the demolition of an existing wood frame house, and concept plans for the construction of a new single family house.

 

WITNESS

 

DESIGN REVIEW COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATION The Little Italy Design Review Committee recommended approval of the demolition of the house, and the construction of the proposed single - family house.

 

 

SHAKER SQUARE HISTORIC DISTRICT – 2865-75 HAMPTON ROAD  Application for a Certificate of Appropriateness for the installation of 211 vinyl replacement windows.

 

WITNESS Tom Gentile (Contractor)

 

DESIGN REVIEW COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATION The Shaker Square Design Review Committee recommended approval of the installation of the vinyl replacement windows, with the recommendation that the owner consider re - pointing the half-timbering and downspouts.

 

 

 

CLIFTON – WEST BOULEVARD HISTORIC DISTRICT – 10001 CLIFTON BOULEVARD

Application for a Certificate of Appropriateness for the demolition of the house.  Owned by Cudell Improvement Corporation the house has had several building code violations.  They have actively marketed the property for the last two years to people for rehabilitation.

 

WITNESS

 

DESIGN REVIEW COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATION The Clifton – West Boulevard Design Review Committee recommended approval of the demolition of the house.

 

 

 

CLIFTON – WEST BOULEVARD HISTORIC DISTRICT – 1262 WEST BOULEVARD Application for a Certificate of Appropriateness for the construction of a single family house on the southwest corner of Clifton and West Boulevard. 

 

WITNESS Kurt Weaver (Architect)

 

DESIGN REVIEW COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATION The Clifton – West Boulevard Design Review Committee recommended approval of the construction of the house, with the following conditions.

1.     That the niches facing West Boulevard have windows.

2.     That either the proposed Verde Green or Terra Cotta tile is appropriate for the roof.

3.     That the applicant install a transom above the box bay window on the Clifton Boulevard elevation.

4.     That the applicant can omit the stone around the West Boulevard entrance.

5.  That the applicant consider a deeper paint color, such as Sherwin – Williams Kilm Beige, and Nomadic Desert.
