NES was avaiable to comment on the sign package. The secondary signage can become an issue beacuase of clutter. Cm Polensek was available for comment as well. He has concerns about the signage, weeds, etc. this is an arts district and the front door to the area.

Committee Comments, Concerns, Questions

• Did we approve this previously?
• These are two separate buidlings?
• Is this over the required sign maximum?
• Are all of these replacing the current signs?
• Why isnt the signage facing waterloo?
• Thinks that therre is too much signage. The signage looks like its a temporary operation if its on the side and not used as vinyl it would add some permanance. otherwise the signage does not bring up the neighborhood.
• We need to move away from the status quo.
• Suggestion to look at reduced signage, buy here pay here, add an awning, etc
• The sign should not go over the brick, signage reduced, and cleaned up.
• Committee would like to see photos that the excess signage removed.

Aldo Dure from BNext presented the revised sign designs on behalf of World Auto Network.  The business is in attendance for the meeting.  Since the initial review, they added an awning, removed the painted "buy here, pay here", removed the website and phone number, are currently removing the decals on the main building windows.  Only proposing to leave the name and the address as lettering in the signs.

Committee Comments, Questions, Concerns

• Committee would prefer to have a nicer sign package for the business overall.  As this is the gateway to the arts district.
• Committee would like to go with the alternate design as presented during the meeting, and can possibly use the red sign with the address at 15201.
• Would like to see the canopy aligned with the brick banding, the 10" apron would go below the window, with no side panels for natural lighting, which will eliminate the red strip.

John Boksansky from NES was available to comment on the revised sign design.  They are in favor of adding the awning, the reduced signage, and removing the excess secondary signage.  NES would really like the owners to keep the area clean and perhaps add a dumpster screening.

Motion to approve the signage as presented for 15201 with the red band swapped for a blue band and the address letter in white vinyl; remove all the painted signs from the building.  The main sign will be the alternative sign presented here today which removes the white band, but can include the red strip.  And lastly on the awning, switch to a panel awing with open sides, the apron will fall below the top of the windows, the top of the awning will align with the bottom of the brick band.  Widen the awing to cover the top of the pilasters, with the understanding that the tubing will have to change on the awning.  The business address will likely be added in vinyl address on the door.
