Committee Concerns

• Do you have a sign contractor on board for the awning?
• What is the zoning on the property immediately east?
• When was the asphalt installed?  The asphalt cannot be at the property line.
• Whats the material of the canopy? 
• Need a full sign plan for the awning, can be reviewed administratively.

Motion to approve with the condition that (1) the canopy only go across the storefront, canopy should end at the storefront and be aligned with the top of the wall banding. (2) The sign letters be centered on the canopy awning in white.  (3) Put lights under the canopy to achieve the full effect of the lighting. (4) A full sign plan be submitted for the awning and signage.  Approval contigent upon receipt of new drawing of the canopy.

Committee Concerns

• Grammar of the name of the name of the signage.  E. 81st DELI vs E. 81 St DELI
• What happened to the design we originally approved?  The original design is preferred.
• Gable shoule be deleted, picture should be removed because it cant be seen from a distance and will be a distraction.  The ends of the gable will streak with dirt.
• The letters are too big for the awning, size is more appropriate for a wall sign.  The scallop base of the awning is inappropriate. 
• Concerned that the graphics of the sign would compete with whatever will be posted in the window.
• Awning will be lit, so the pack lights should be removed.

Motion to disapprove with the recommendation that they go back to the orginal design or present something new incorporating the feedback from the committee.  Vote to disaproved by all members present.
